It was awarded the title of ‘World’s best après ski resort’ in the 2012 World Snow Awards and with 35 bars and 9 nightclubs offers something for everyone, whether you prefer to elegantly sip champagne or spray it over the surrounding crowd...

Tradition sees everyone gather by the church, drink of choice in hand for a big count down at midnight. Although the resort doesn’t provide its own firework display, most of the hotels do so you won’t be missing out!

Popular venues at New Year’s Eve in Zermatt include the Hennu Stall which offers a brilliant New Year’s Eve menu as well as live music and a DJ. If you want to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a meal or drinks in a particular venue, do book in advance as they tend to be booked out pretty quickly.

There’s no better view to enjoy on the first day of the New Year than that of the incredible Matterhorn! Skiing in Zermatt is extensive with 200km of runs, 21km of which are snow sure thanks to the Theodul glacier.
