St Cristina Half Term holidays
Swapping classroom curriculums for lessons on the snow is an unbeatable way to spend the half-term week. The main ski school has a range of lessons for different levels - have a look at private courses as they sometimes do a family package if you want to stay together. Over at their main office in the Iman sports centre, there’s a day-nursery for 2 year olds and above. Prior years have also seen a Kid’s Week with all sorts of exciting activities to get involved in.
For a change of pace, there’s a snow and fun park at Piz Sella. After replenishing your energy stores with a cake at Café Andy, the ice skating, tobogganing and horse riding should help you deplete them again before your evening meal. You also have access to the neighbouring towns of Ortisei and Selva by bus - the Mar Dolomiti in Ortisei is perfect for a more relaxed evening with swimming and saunas available. Selva, on the other hand, is great for some retail mooching and a bigger choice of bars and restaurants.
February usually seems to be a good balance between the cold of the previous months and the sun of the weather to follow... something that can be reflected nicely in the snow conditions, which in prior seasons have been peaking at this time of year. To top it off, Italian schools don’t have a half term, which means the slopes have less chance of being as hectic as other European destinations.
