· ski-in, ski-out on the Langbacken 2 and 4 red runs · in the centre of Hundfjället · 3 minutes’ walk to the Langliftarna drag lift
Being an early bird skier’s easy at SkiStar Lodge Hundfjället. When you’re just a couple of minutes’ ambling from one of the resort’s main lifts, you can take it chill and still be one of the first people on the slopes. So relax, enjoy the ride up and think about which run you’ll be starting with today. Later, when you’re ready to hang up your skis, you can look forward to an easy finish too – when the snow’s good, you can slide right back to the hotel, no walking needed.
There’s a certain something about a heated pool with a snowy view. The Frost pool at SkiStar’s floor to ceiling windows and waterfalls give the spa area a rather smart look and there’s a bunch of other treats to experience, including a caldarium, hot tubs and saunas galore. You’ll need to pay a bit extra to visit the Frost pool and spa, but will get half-price entry as a guest at the hotel. It’s a great spot for a chilled après though – the evenings are adults only, for peak relaxation.
The restaurant and bar have an appealing Scandi-style elegance about them. Minimalist furniture and simple design are combined with some atmospheric lighting and a few chic touches to make things feel luxurious. You’re well looked after too – amongst the staff at evening meals, you’ll find a sommelier ready to bring you the best the cellar has to offer. Whether you’re upgrading to half board or dining à la carte, you’re in for a treat.
