· 5 minutes’ walk to the resort centre · next to the ski bus for the Penken-Horberg (12-minute bus ride) · 10 minutes' walk to the bus stop for the Zillertal Arena ski area (2-minute bus ride)
The Ramsauerhof is what authentic Austrian stays are all about. We’re talking a down-to-earth atmosphere and personal service that’s second to none. Things are traditional food-wise too. Each evening, tuck into three courses of the country’s best belt-loosening fare, from stews and schnitzels to strudels smothered in vanilla sauce. The perfect skiing fuel.
The Eberharter family who run the place have kept things low-key in the looks department. Everything’s done up in fresh whites and calm creams, with plenty of wood to add that alpine touch. And as an extra perk, each bedroom comes with a balcony.
All the essentials are covered on the facilities front. A ski room with heated boot racks means your feet will be toasty warm before you click in for the day. Then when you’re done, spend your après hours in the bar or swap sipping for spa-ing with a dip in the pool and a spell in the sauna.
There are no slopes in Ramsau itself, but you can step outside and onto a bus that’ll take you to the top-notch Mayrhofen ski area in around 12 minutes. Or you can walk a few minutes to catch a 2-minute bus to the equally brilliant Zillertal Arena ski area instead.
