While you won’t be escaping to glorious sunshine, you’ll find much warmer weather than back home in Malcesine with average highs of 18°C. Malcesine’s cooler climate is ideal if you’re looking for an active experience of the lake, but also if you want to visit at a quieter time of the year or want to snap up an amazing holiday deal.
If you’re looking for a summer holiday in a traditionally warm climate, its best to visit Malcesine in the temperate months of May and September, or the warmest months of June, July and August but, if warm weather is not on your perfect-holiday tick-list, read on.
There are some amazing walk and cycle routes around Malcesine to enjoy in October without the heat and humidity of Italian summertime. As well as some amazing opportunity up on Mount Baldo, you’ll find some pleasant walks and bike rides along the Gardesana to Cassone, to Rocchetta and between woodland, olive groves that offer amazing landscapes and lake views.
Although it does rain over a few days in October, Malcesine has so much to offer indoors that you won’t be disappointed. As well as a fantastic range of shops in the town, the castle is a must visit at any time of year (and has a great natural history museum inside) as well as the Cassone museum and you’ll usually find an art exhibition or two around the town.
The atmosphere here in October is buzzing with the International Lake Garda Marathon as Malcesine has the finishing line, but if you’d rather be somewhere quieter, visit Torri del Benaco or Maderno.
