Vail Christmas holidays
Everyone dreams about having a white Christmas in a wonderland setting. In Vail, you can definitely have what you wished for, with its Alpine inspired architecture and an average December snowfall that’s usually more than enough to enjoy this resort’s fantastic ski area. With 461 acres of artificial snow making equipment, even if there is little snow, you’ll be unlucky not to get a covering on a number of runs for you to enjoy the white stuff. The town’s ambience offers an excited and enjoyable vibe, with a beautiful ice rink in the centre surrounding by stunning hotels and shops, perfect for perusing or for a spot of late Christmas shopping.
With many festive events usually put on by the resort, such as Vail’s famous festive holiday celebration “Holidaze”, adults and children are superbly catered for. In past years, holiday makers have been entertained by free concerts, ice skating shows, family zones and tree and town lighting ceremonies. There have also been fun little touches such as carol singers with hot chocolate and candy cane patrollers, giving all ages a festive holiday they’ll never forget.
If you want to enjoy a festive meal on the big day, head to Sweet Basil. Winning the Diner’s Choice Award from Open Table 3 years in a row, this succulent, stylish restaurant has left many diners blissfully sated over the years. Another great option is Ludwig’s in the Sonnenalp Hotel, specialising in seafood if you fancy something other than turkey.
If you’re looking for a more adult centric celebration, check out Vail’s extensive bar scene. The Red Lion is one of Vail’s most popular evening haunts, and has featured live music entertainment on prior Christmas days, along with an extensive drinks menu to cater for every type of celebration. Samana Lounge has also hosted nights on Christmas Day with live DJs in recent years, allowing you to throw some shapes and really party the night away.
If you want to spend your special day in the comfort of your own accommodation, then why not look at self-catering – perfect for those who like their meal or day in a specific way. To take the hassle out of everything and have everything just outside your bedroom door, look at our catered chalets. Perfect for group bookings, these can take all the stresses out of Christmas for you and your party. Hotels can offer a similar feeling, as many larger hotels house most amenities on site, as well as some offering Christmas events and activities, appealing to most ages.
