Jackson Hole Half Term skiing

Jackson Hole Half Term holidays

February can be an epic time to head to the US resorts, mainly because the American schooling system doesn’t include a half term holiday, making it much less busy than many of the popular European counterparts. However, the resort of Jackson Hole proceeds to offer so much more. On the average day in the last few seasons, there were only 1,750 skiers skiing on the 2,500 acres of inbound terrain. This outrageous statistic shows just how quiet Jackson Hole actually is and allows you to potentially find fresh tracks time after time, as opposed to jostling for space on European slopes.

If this wasn’t enough, the fact that the snow is usually best around this time of year will certainly clinch the deal. With over 11.6m of annual average snowfall and around 74 inches in March, you’re almost certain to experience favourable conditions if you visit during the February half term. On top of this, there are more sunny days in the resort than the average for US cities, making blue skies and powder a very real possibility.

If you have children in tow, enrol them into the high quality ski school. The experienced instructors will help them improve quickly, advancing them to higher levels of terrain, opening up more skiing possibilities around the mountain. If you want to spend quality time skiing with them, the area serviced by the Teewinot and Eagle’s Rest chairs is littered with easy greens, perfect if they have grasped stopping and turning and want to hone their technique – Lower Werner is super for this. When ready to progress to more difficult slopes, ski the Gros Ventre run, accessed by Lupine Way at the top of the Bridger Gondola.

There are a number of activities off the mountain that will make sure all ages stay entertained. Tubing is available just outside the town of Jackson on the Snow King mountain, for both adults and kids and you can charter a sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge to spot some of these majestic, native beasts. Alternatively, for an enlightening and entertaining trip check out Ripley’s Believe It Or Not museum, featuring numerous attractions to keep everyone entertained for hours.
