Jackson Hole Christmas holidays
America is known for doing everything bigger and better than its counterparts over the pond, and Christmas celebrations at Jackson Hole certainly match this theory. An idyllic setting any time of year, both the town of Jackson and the village of Teton are transformed at Christmas into a winter wonderland.
Naturally, if you’re heading to this resort over the Christmas period you’re likely to want amazing skiing. Whilst not typically its snowiest month, December usually provides more than enough snow for you to be able to enjoy the varied skiing. You could be lucky enough to experience the conditions seen in the 2010-11 season, where a massive snowfall saw an average snow depth of over 150cm!
In addition to the skiing, no Christmas would be complete without a few events to really amplify that festive feeling. With past seasons playing host to an abundance of Christmassy activities, you’re likely to find something to build that festive cheer –skiing with Santa on Christmas day has captivated kids in prior years. In fact, in past seasons there have been family friendly events almost every day since the 13th of December, really making sure you are in the mood for the big day.
As everyone knows, one of the main aspects about Christmas has to be the main meal. With a variety of options both in Teton village and Jackson town, you will be spoilt for choice. One of our top picks is Snake River Grill, which offers a luxurious set menu whilst also being reasonably priced for ski resort food. If you want an on-mountain experience, then you definitely have to head to the Couloir Restaurant; a sumptuous eatery offering spectacular views over the valley, always a winner for any celebration meal. We definitely recommend booking in advance though, as many of these restaurants will fill quickly.
If you fancy a few Christmas drinks, check out the numerous bars in Teton and Jackson. The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar is the perfect place to head to in order to relieve those post-Christmas blues, as they tend to offer live acts from Boxing Day into the New Year. Always a year round favourite, the Mangy Moose is sure to be busy and enhance that festive feeling.
