Les Diablerets Half Term holidays
With free skiing for the under 9’s in recent years and a fantastic learners’ facility on the slope at Meilleret, Les Diablerets is an ideal place to take the children for the school break in February. There’s a brilliant range of slopes both locally and further afield towards Villars and Gryon, which parents and more confident skiers can explore while lessons take place – meanwhile Leysin and Les Mosses are also accessible on the lift pass. Families can enjoy sledging and husky rides on the mountain and skating on the outdoor rink in the centre of the village, whilst grownups can get hold of some quality R&R at one of the resort’s spas and wellness centres. Teens meanwhile will love sessioning the Big Mama line at the glacier snow park during the day or learning the basics from an ESS snowboard instructor.
The snow historically tends to be in top condition at this time of year on all parts of the region and there’s often the option to ski into the main village. Experts will love creating fresh tracks on the black Olden run each morning, whilst Issenau and Villars have some lovely intermediate opportunities. The beginner area on Meilleret usually has a generous dusting of powder, making it ideal for anyone starting out on skis, and the snow sure glacier has plenty of pristine blues with the bonus of awesome views across the Alps.
