Interlaken Easter holidays
It’s hard to think of anything better than spending Easter in a country famed for its chocolate... indulge with a Swiss hot chocolate at cosy Bebbi’s (their chocolate fondue is fantastic too) or treat yourself to a cheeky handful/basketful of Easter eggs at Schuh where you can even watch the chocolatiers in action in their daily Chocolate Show.
The Jungfrau isn’t Switzerland’s highest area and its slopes get a lot of sunshine but while you might not find the most extensive snow sure skiing in the Alps, the high-altitude Kleine Schidegg should still be in good shape. Even if you only get to ski in the morning, Interlaken is a terrific place to keep busy in the afternoon - take advantage of the bountiful selection of other activities on offer like shopping down the Hoheweg, bowling at the Interlaken Bowling centre or swimming at the Bodelibad in Unterseen.
The milder weather sometimes provides the opportunity to enjoy some boating on the lakes. As the ice melts, a trip to observe the waterfalls becomes a must-do, whilst taking the kids on a farm visit can be a fun Easter experience.
If Easter falls over early April, you might be lucky enough to experience Switzerland’s biggest winter music festival ‘Snowpenair’ with the Jungfrau’s stunning mountain backdrop and a bill of top artists (Bryan Adams has performed in the past).
Alternatively, kick your snow boots off and soak up the sun on a mountain hut terrace (we love the 360 panorama of the famous Piz Gloria).
