Want to be in the liveliest and most exciting resort of the beautiful Jungfrau region this New Years? Well then get your tickets to Grindelwald! There’s so much on offer here, everyone from party animals to families to couples will enjoy the town’s fun yet relaxed vibe. Marvel at the firework displays over the pistes, and join in the celebrations on New Year’s Eve as the main street turns into a festival. Most of the hotels put on themed events; previous years have seen Titanic themed parties and gala dinners with dancing. There are usually special events at the local bars and clubs too, including live music; we recommend the Espresso Bar in the Hotel Spinne, Avocado Bar, or the Mescalero Club for a good night out.

Around this time of year the local bakeries produce a wonderful sweet bread called Dreikönigskuchen, which is made with brioche dough and filled with nut paste… better than it sounds! Hidden inside there is a little token and the finder is crowned King for the day (a paper crown is usually included). You can find these at the Co-op supermarket or bakery Ringgenberg.
