With fairy lights lining the streets and a huge Christmas tree in the middle of town, the atmosphere in Davos at Christmas is magical. The resort’s snow cannons and high altitudes help ensure plenty of snow for this early season period, allowing for quality skiing on Christmas Day. There are exciting off-slope activities too ­­- take a horse drawn sleigh ride or skate at the biggest natural ice rink in Europe. Why not indulge in some Christmas shopping at the local boutiques - make sure you visit the traditional Christmas market at Arkadenplatz, where you’ll find lovely gifts, Glühwein and festive music. To add to the festivities, many of the restaurants have a special Christmas menu; try Restaurant Giodavin for fondue or ‘the best cordon bleu in town’. Afterwards, you can enjoy the après-ski in one of the many bars and clubs. There is also the annual tradition of a night torch relay through town. In recent years the Steigenberger Hotel has hosted a Christmas concert and children’s entertainment, with a visit from Santa Claus.
