Arosa New Year holidays
The fact that Arosa’s south-facing position gets so much sunshine is a real blessing in the midst of winter – and this paired with high altitude slopes is a recipe for sunny, snow sure conditions at New Year.
On the big night, head to the village church for a traditional count down with the locals or see if you can make it up Tschuggen hill for a great view of local firework displays. For something on a bigger scale, a quick trip on the Arosa Express railway will take you to nearby Chur – thought to be the oldest town in Switzerland – where their firework show traditionally takes place on the mountain side.
If you want to stay in the resort, there’s always the option of pushing the boat out with some fine dining at Le Bistro. You can’t visit Switzerland without sampling the supper it does best, so even if you don’t do it on New Years Eve, gather round a fondue at the Burestuebli or Alpenblick restaurant. For a good night out, start with a scotch at the Strumpf, before dancing through the night at the huge Kursaal Bar.
