Kranjska Gora New Year holidays
On New Year’s Eve, Snowy Beach (the heart of the town), traditionally becomes the central hub - buzzing with live music performances, fireworks and dancing on the snow – in essence a giant street turned piste party!
As it’s still early in the season and Kranjska’s a fairly low altitude resort, snow may be a smidge unreliable at this time. Having said that, most of the slopes are tree-lined and lay on a grass base which gives them the best chance of retaining as much snow as is falling. Should Mother Nature need a helping hand, snow making technology covers 70% of the local terrain, so there’s no need to put it down to fate.
If your thighs need a rest, there are heaps of other activities to choose from: tobogganing and the mountain igloo village are two of our favourites when there are little ones in tow. Couples and families with older teens might like snowshoeing, ice climbing, dog sledding or snow mobile rides and if it’s a break from the chilly weather you’re after, check out the sports centre and its indoor water park and wellness centre.
