Beitostolen New Year holidays
Things heat up in Beito at New Year’s, at least festivity wise, when a fireworks display traditionally joins a dance show and buffets across the village on the 31st. Pubs like Arnold’s and Svingen are known to come alive with musicians for beer and Gløgg fuelled celebrations until the early hours.
Though still nothing like the bigger resorts, slopes are a fair bit busier at this time of year, so if you crave alone time with the mountains, test out the area’s world-class cross-country skiing ‒ you’re unlikely to run into a soul out on the area’s 320km of winding, tree-lined trails. Otherwise bundle into a sleigh and soak up the area’s natural beauty sans goggles – a wonderful time for reflecting on the year.
If you haven’t hit the Bare KOS bar too heavily, rise early and spend New Year’s morning in solitude on the off-piste and powder chutes at Raudalen. If you’ve yet to try off-piste skiing, a course with Beito-Aktiv will make a cracking New Year’s resolution.
