Half Term in Lapland
The Lapland resorts are ideal for families looking to escape to a Narnia-like wonderland over half term.
With cold temperatures, the area usually has great snow conditions in February as well as a lot more daylight than Christmas (with an average of 7-8 hours of natural light per day). The ski areas are extremely family friendly and best suited to beginners or intermediates. To make things even better, the slopes are usually crowd free. You also get the bonus of most lift passes costing a fraction of the price of the Alps.
Just because you’re not in Lapland over Christmas doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the Christmassy activities. Meet the man himself at the Santa Village in Rovaniemi where it’s Christmas all year long and take a trip on a reindeer sleigh or husky sled. Snowmobiling, ice fishing and sometimes even ice karting are also well worth looking out for.
