Selva New Year holidays
Although a peak holiday week, there isn’t much to suggest Selva’s slopes become overly heaving over New Year’s; the sheer quantity and breadth of piste makes it less likely that someone will steal the snow in front of you and the hustle-bustle attitude found in many other resorts is also generally more relaxed here.
Hats and scarves are definitely a good idea at New Year especially if you want to properly enjoy what Selva has in terms of celebrations...
New Year’s Eve in the village usually provides the kind of merriment that is suitable for people at all ages; from family to friends. Like any New Year’s party a healthy access to champagne and some celebratory dancing is pretty essential. A few of the popular après ski haunts and hotels like to kick off the night with a special gala event; Bar Saltos has been known to put on a good evening. Previously, locals have gathered in the Nives central square for some DJ initiated music, warming food and a firework display that will blow your knitted woollen socks off. It’s not unusual for people to light and release lanterns from the square, which is certainly worth a photograph.
