San Cassiano Christmas holidays
With Paisc da Nadé, San Cassiano's village centre hosts a traditional Alpine Christmas. Wooden huts form a festive market filled with works by Ladin artisans (from marmalade to wooden toys). The sounds of musicians and choirs and the smells of mulled wine and festive snacks fill the sir. Previous years have included a Nativity scene, visits from Saint Nicholas and all kinds of farm animals to meet.
This usually lasts throughout December, finishing on New Year's Day.
A fifteen-minute drive away, the town of Covara also hosts a Christmas Market if you want to experience another festive scene.
Ski-wise, one of the best things about the Dolomiti Superski for this time of year is the incredible standard of snowmaking. Whether or not Mother Nature has delivered a good base of the natural stuff, there are thousands of snow cannons on the pistes to get them up and running.
