Madonna di Campiglio New Year holidays
This elegant and lively old mountain village in the glorious Dolomites makes a super setting to see in the New Year.
This is one of the best resorts in Italy when it comes to nightlife and there are plenty of bars and clubs if you like to pop open the Prosecco and party in the New Year. The main nightclub is Zangola, and Cantina Suisse is another top venue (the cocktails are amazing here!). Another of our favourite places to drink here is the Cliffhanger, which has good beer and live music until late.
Most seasons see crowds gather at the bottom of the Miramonte slope on the 1st of Jan, drinks in hand for the New Year’s Day ski show. It’s become a bit of a tradition that the local ski instructors relive the days when Europe’s royalty visited Madonna by waltzing down the piste. This usually includes a torch light procession and plenty of Glühwein to keep everyone warm.
Italians love their food (we love it too!) and most hotels put on a gala dinner at New Year – the dining scene here is spectacular so you might want to delay any diet-related resolutions for a week...
Of course there’s no better way to spend New Year’s Day than skiing the Dolomites. As skiing is possible up to 2600 meters and 95% of the ski area can be covered by artificial snow, there’s normally a good amount of the white stuff by the end of December.
Madonna’s famously good restaurants, linked ski area and lively après ski make this one of the more popular Italian resorts to ski at New Year, so our best advice is to get your holiday booked up as soon as possible!
