Kronplatz New Year holidays
Kronplatz is known to put on a pretty impressive display when it comes to welcoming in the New Year. Make the first stop on your celebrations one of the umbrella bars on the mountain (we love CoroneS Hutte at the summit), joining other revellers for a few drinks with a great view of the Dolomites and Pustertal valley. The Gassl bar at the bottom of the Olang cable car is a massive venue and usually has something lively planned for the big night. In past years, there have been special ski shows held in the resort too, as well as an outdoor party with torchlit relays, freestyle shows and fireworks displays.
As far as the skiing’s concerned, Kronplatz usually welcomes in the New Year with its pistes in brilliant condition. The high altitude of Concordia 2000 means that there’s a decent chance of seeing some snowfall – for ultimate resort-cred, the combined area boasts an amazing 100% snowmaking. Stick to the east and lower runs on cold mornings, whilst heading to the trees during whiteouts is always a sensible idea! Perched on the mountain is the Kronrestaurant – ideal for a lovely New Year’s Day lunch, with huge windows around the building for fabulous views of Pustertal. From here, you can ski down to your choice of the ‘Black 5’ runs and make it your resolution to tame it!
