Bardonecchia Half Term holidays
The Italian schools don’t have a half-term, so even though this is a popular resort with Italians, the slopes should be relatively quiet during the week.
Families will love the ski area which is nearly all suitable for beginners and intermediates (there’s 45km of blue terrain, topped by another 50km of reds). English speaking ski and snowboard schools will take little learners to nursery slopes complete with magic carpets and button lifts where they can conquer the basics before setting off to roam the blues. In the Colomion ski area, woodland creature features form a treasure trail for all the family- who will be the first to spot the deer and marmots? The baby park is great for budding freestylers and teens can while the day away on the Snowparks 4 other areas (the natural Wood park is really cool).
Some hotels offer their own crèche facilities for little ones who are a still just a little too young to join ski school, where fun indoor and outdoor activities are organised so they get just as much enjoyment out of your family weekend away. Talk to our ski specialists if this would make your week easier and they’ll find you the best places to stay.
In terms of things to do besides skiing, the Chesal 1805 Bar and Restaurant serves up Italian dishes for all the family and is great for parents to enjoy a glass of Italian vino. Take the snow safari cat up the slopes to reach this restaurant- a sure fire hit with your little ones. Planet Games is also worth a visit – it’s an arcade that will keep the kids amused of a wintery evening.
