Tignes New Year holidays
Tignes has a strong place on the list of the best New Year’s ski destinations – an immense 30,000 people celebrated the New Year here in 2013 for the legendary Fire Mix party.
For over a decade, the resort has transformed into a huge open air night club featuring the world’s biggest DJ’s including David Guetta, Laurent Wolf and Martin Solveig. Partying goes on into the early hours and includes a big count down and amazing fireworks to see in the New Year.
Things look set to change though, as from 2014 the Eloize Circus, of “Cirque du Soleil” fame, is taking to the main stage to combine electro tracks with “fairytale” performance art – it looks like the party’s been taken down a peg- perhaps an attempt by the tourist office to cater for families or break the mould. Don’t be dismayed if you’re looking for an all-night party – venues like Loop Bar and 247 are sure to be firing on all cylinders.
However you celebrate the big night, you can also ski in the New Year on some of the best snow in the Alps. With a majority of its ski area over 2,500m and a skiable glacier, there should be some brilliant conditions here for New Year skiing.
We have a brilliant range of chalets for group ski holidays as well as family lodgings where childcare can be provided if parents want to see in the New Year without keeping the kids up.
