Megeve Christmas holidays
Even Vogue did an article on Christmas in Megeve, which just serves to show you that if you want to celebrate the festive season in serious Alpine style, this is the place to come. The old village is always full of alpine charm but even more so at this time of year when the legendary Christmas tree takes centre stage at Place d’Eglise – it hit the headlines for being decorated in Swarovski crystals a while ago...
You’re likely to see Santa out and about on Christmas Eve, he usually appears to meet awe-struck children and hand out free hot chocolate before his round-the-world tour.
Onto the skiing, this is a famously beautiful area with loads of lovely tree-lined runs. 673 snow cannons keep the pistes shipshape if there hasn’t been enough snowfall and there’s some beautifully scenic skiing to be enjoyed (we love the views from the top of the Epaule lift and the Princesse piste has some lovely bits between the trees). There’s even a piste named after the merry fellow himself – make sure you head to Le Jaillet to ski the blue Pere Noel at least once!
