Pyhä Half Term holidays
February is arguably one of the best times to visit this great little resort – Pyha is perfect for kids anyway with lots of beginner slopes and even a Junior SnowPark but as well as having traditionally good snow conditions, Feb is a milder than the earlier winter months and the mercury slowly climbs as the month goes on. Whilst the big Alpine resorts fill to the brim with tourists, Pyna is known for its uncrowded slopes with no queues to speak of, even on popular weeks like this. It’ll probably be colder over here, but if you bring proper thermals and make use of the open fire places and cafes, everyone should stay warm and happy.
The reasons to bring the kids here aren’t limited to the slopes, there’s a mountain of other activities to enjoy including ice-climbing and husky sledding. See what Rudolph and his friends get up to when it isn’t Christmas by visiting the Kopara reindeer park or Jaakkola reindeer farm – reindeer safaris are a terrific way to experience the surroundings. Clue up on Aurora Borealis for an out-of-school science lesson if you’re lucky enough to see the northern lights while you’re here. There are some lovely Finnish saunas in the area so grown-ups can relax on holiday too, with the chance to follow up your sauna session with a dip in an ice pool if you fancy...
