Banff Half Term holidays
While European ski resorts are full to the rafters, February half term is still low season for tourism in the Banff National Park, which means you can really make the most of half term here. Do the homework on the plane and spend the week in the glorious national park, skiing some of the best terrain on the planet.
With 3 different resorts accessible from Banff town, there’s more than enough to ski. Nearby Mt Norquay has some lovely forgiving slopes that are sheltered by tree line, which is great if you’re here with beginners (Snow School do all kinds of ski and snowboard lessons). Sunshine Village often plays host to those elusive powder days and workshops with the Ski & Snowboard School can really get you shredding that pow. Lake Louise is brilliant and not only because the scenery will take your breath away; the ski area is huge and expertly designed to have a run of each level from every lift; a god-send if you’ve come as a family or group of mixed abilities.
When you’re not clipped into the skis, check out the snow tubing in Mt Norquay, the walks in Bow Valley, and the unmissable hot springs. If you’re looking for a little break while the others are out on the slopes, there are loads of familiar shops lining the streets of Banff Town which you can browse for hours. Don’t forget the more unusual boutiques and definitely don’t miss the goodies at Banff Sweet Shoppe or The Fudgery…
