St Johann Easter holidays
You’re bound to find some good snow late in the season if you’re based in St Johaann, simply because there are so many options. The Schneewinkel pass (the standard option for week long holidays) gives you access to 170km spread over 10 resorts, and if this looks like it won’t be enough then upgrading to the Kitzbüheler Alpen AllStarCard will let you ski over a thousand kilometres of piste- including the snow sure Kitzsteinhorn glacier, and the area pass offers a ‘double guarantee of snow’. The natural conditions and high tech snow making facilities throughout the region means that there’ll be no rock skiing this year- apparently the entire ski resort of St. Johann in Tyrol can be covered in snow within a mere 60 hours! If you’re planning a late season trip to miss out on the crowds, you won’t be disappointed either- with such a wide area to explore it’s easy to avoid the masses. When the sun’s out there’s nothing better than spending the afternoon in the sun with your feet up- the Harschbichalm at the peak has amazing views of the valley. Easter’s a great time to embark on a self-drive trip to the Alps, and with less chance of snow lower down, the journey’s often quicker and less stressful. The roads between resorts are likely to be less crowded as well, which is great for exploring the neighbouring resorts. If you don’t mind using the ski bus in resort (its free, and runs regularly all day) then take advantage of a package that includes flights and transfers. The combination of modest transfers and short flights will get you on the piste sooner than you’d think- perfect for a spontaneous late season trip!
