Schladming New Year holidays
Head to the medieval village of Schladming for a new year of glacier skiing, winter activities and good old Austrian cheer.
Snow cover should be good at this time of year, especially on the glacier, and there's a fantastic artificial snow making system if Mother Nature needs a helping hand.
Most hotels tend to hold their own gala dinners (some even their own fireworks) and if you want to party, the huge Hohenhaus Tenne is famous for its live music, dancing and huge crowds (rumour has it this is the biggest ski hut on the continent). One of our favourite ways to see in the New Year is heading up to the Dachstein glacier for the Ice Palace as well as the Sky Walk and suspension bridge - pick a clear day and the sights are magnificent.
