Schladming Christmas holidays
This medieval town makes a charming base for Christmas and the enormous Ski Amadé will deliver if you've asked Santa for miles of scenic skiing (760km to be precise).
Festivities usually take place throughout Advent, with recent years seeing the main square become a Christmas Market, with stages for performances. Gasthaus Brunner often runs an excellent program for tots, including letter writing for Santa and festive crafts, while long-standing traditions include carols at the Protestant Church.
The ski area hasn't had any trouble opening in recent years, thanks to the sky high Dachstein glacier and an extensive snowmaking system if any extra coverage is needed.
Festive winter activities include tobogganing on one of the longest runs in the Alps and visiting the Ice Palace on the glacier. Most hotels put on gala dinners to celebrate Christmas day - ask our ski specialists to check if yours does before you book.
