At Christmas, Mayrhofen is Magical for children – Father Christmas appears in a procession, they can meet the elves and even send off Christmas lists at Father Christmas’ post office. Mayrhofen is also a Christmas ski destination for couples, with romantic setting, you can enjoy both peace and quiet and enjoy live music, with a blanket and warm Christmas punch by an open fire. Couples can take torch-lit walks and even a romantic horse drawn sleigh ride through the valley.
In terms of the skiing, you will find a fantastic ski area covering the Penken and Ahorn mountains. Even if snowfall is low (it’s usually pretty good in late December, but see recent years snow depth graph opposite), the snow-sure Hintertux Glacier is nearby and 100% of the ski area can be covered with artificial snow.
