Kaprun Christmas holidays
Kaprun is perfect for those looking to spend a relaxed Christmas in a winter wonderland but also has a lot to offer for those looking for a spot of serious early season skiing. The height of the resort usually means that there’s ample snow by the middle of December and the comprehensive lift network deals well with the yuletide crowds.
With a fairy-tale castle overlooking proceedings, the church lit up ethereally, and the scent of mulled wine and spices winding its way around the snow covered chalets, Kaprun is a very picture perfect location to spend the festive season with your nearest and dearest. The Christmas market in the nearby resort of Zell am See is well worth a visit – give in to the temptation of the edible treats on offer, the embrace of a warming cup of mulled wine will allow you to browse the artisan stalls to your heart’s content.

A truly unique ritual, Christmas morning sees a Christmas tree retrieved from the depths of Lake Zell by local lifeguards, to the backdrop of festive music and a light show. Once witnessed, you will never look at a Christmas tree that hasn’t been thoroughly submerged in the same way again!
