Finkenberg New Year holidays
There’s usually a good layer of snow by the time the New Year comes around in Finkenberg- the huge amount of skiable terrain also ensures that specific areas don’t get skied into submission day in/ day out. There will be more than enough snow up on the glacier to keep the most whole group happy, and the snow guns on the lower areas of the mountain are typically efficient.
With the heavy hitting party resort of Mayrhofen just around the corner, those who are after a big night out will find it a swift bus ride away. For those staying in Finkenberg, however, the New Year will be seen in a much more genteel fashion.
The local ski club hosts a torch lit parade down into the village, followed by warming drinks in the village. The sight of the locals gliding down the mountain holding aloft their torches really is something to behold- though the warming drinks are often considered a more crucial aspect of the display!
There’s usually a pre New Year party for youngsters on the ice rink in the neighbouring Tux. With giant skiing penguins, and kids from all over Europe, it’s bound to be an event everyone will love!
Finkenberg is an incredibly accessible resort- only a couple of hours from three separate airports- it’s a great choice for a New Year’s trip if you’re planning on spending Christmas at home. Some of our full and half hotels offer gala dinners on the evening itself, which takes care of the entertainment nicely.
