Filzmoos Easter holidays
Though Filz's altitude may be cause for concern this late in the season, the proximity of the Dachstein glacier substantially increases the likelihood of good spring skiing.
The officials are clearly confident that the snow gods will be smiling on Filz in April: they usually host the Atomic Children's Ski Grand Prix over the Easter Weekend here, in which whizz kids can win prizes like Atomic skis and ski poles.
With wide, generally quiet nursery slopes like the Bögrain, this is an ideal winter training ground for less experienced little ones too. The ski schools run an all-day kinder club and a lunchtime supervision sessions - meaning mum and dad can get out on the 860km of the Ski Amadé without having to dart back!
Look out for special lift deals at this time of year too - previous years have seen the costs of Amadé lift passes for under 15s waived with the purchase of one adult 6-day pass.
If a change of scenery calls, take the 45 minute bus ride to Salzburg for its famous Easter markets and operatic Easter festival.
