The start of January is usually the coldest time of the year in the Alps so by now the conditions should be approaching perfection. With over 1000km of slopes to choose from in the surrounding areas, you can even afford to be picky when it comes to the conditions. A local highlight is the torchlight descent on the evening itself. Wrap up warm and bring out the brandy for a spectacular display of formation skiing as the local instructors take up their torches and blaze a trail down the mountain. You’ll have a good time at the S4 Alm bar year round, so if you’re planning on spending NYE there then you better arrive early to beat the queues - a pre drink pizza will definitely help fill the time between the slopes and the fireworks.
If you’re spending Christmas at home with the family, pick a package that includes flights- you’ll be able to make the most of the festivities (and the turkey) before nipping over to the continent to celebrate the New Year. If you’re planning on bringing some supplies to help with the party atmosphere then you’ll appreciate the extra space and flexibility afforded by a self-drive holiday. Load the car with food and drink in Calais and you’ll be set for the week! Alternatively, if you want to be on the snow as soon as possible, book up one of our accommodation, flights and transfers packages.
