Bad Gastein Christmas holidays
Ski in Bad Gastein this festive season to experience a traditional Austrian Christmas. There are some charmingly quaint Christmas markets where you can sample Austrian festive food and buy unique gifts to hand out on the big day. The town stays true to the ancient pagan tradition of “The Krampus” who is the opposite of Father Christmas and comes to scold and punish naughty children. This is celebrated in a fun and jovial manner with a comical horned creature visiting the town and entertaining the kids! The food is a huge part of Christmas here so be prepared fill your belly with lots of festive delights. There are also plenty of live music events and you can ride a horse drawn carriage around the majestically decorated town for a real winter-wonderland experience. The resort usually has an ice Nativity scene – you’ll want your camera to hand here to capture the enchanting sight.
