With so much to do, a pedestrianised centre and state-of-the-art day-care (from as young as 2 months) and ski school programs, Vail is a good choice for families. Vail and Beaver Creek's Ski and Snowboarding School operate children's centres at Golden Peak and Lionshead in Vail. Kids from age 3 are accepted in specially streamed classes according to their age with skiing initially and 'boarding available from age 6. There are dedicated child-only rental facilities at both centres. First-timers have magic carpet lifts and all enjoy ski or 'board-through attractions like Fort Whippersnapper and Tombstone Territory. These are located in a dedicated 15 acre (6 hectare) park which also has attractions like ski-through Native American teepees and a recreated gold mine. After age 6 tuition includes an emphasis on 'Ski-ecology' environmental issues as well as fun. Teen classes run from age 13 up to 18 and include all-day programs. Kids have plenty of après ski especially designed for them, including the Hangout teen centre and cinemas geared up to cater for younger clients.
