Panorama Stats
British Columbia’s Panorama Mountain Village is one of the less-known places to ski in the Rockies, but that’s by no means a bad thing.
The inspiration behind the name is obvious– it has stunning panoramic views over a thousand peaks of the Rockies and nearby Mount Nelson. The atmosphere here is laid-back and unpretentious, making it ideal for anyone who likes a bit of peace and quiet. The village is genuinely village-sized and the streets are pedestrianised (anyone with wheels can use the underground parking).
This is a village but it’s in no way old and ill-equipped. With modern, purpose-built accommodation spread across lower and upper villages, this is somewhere that combines the conveniences of the new world with the values of old. The upper village is at the base of the piste, right next to the lifts and if you want to pop to the facilities in the lower village, you can just take the gondola.
You’ll find all the shops you’d expect to see here as well as a good variety of restaurants serving up tasty food. If you’ve left any vital equipment behind, stores like Final Gate are well-stocked with major brands. For food, wines, beers and gifts, you can stock up in places like the General Store. Eating-wise, you’re spoilt for choice, from delicious stone-baked pizzas at Mile High Pizza to the award winning gourmet food served at Grey’s.
A big attraction is the huge (1258 ft.) hot spring bath, which is less than a stone’s throw away from the first lift and heated to a comfortable 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The slope-side location is truly spectacular - USA Today included Panorama in its worldwide “10 spectacular ski resort pools and hot tubs” list.
Calgary International Airport is three and half hours drive away and the journey is one of the best parts of the holiday – you’ll pass absolutely stunning scenery as you drive through Banff and the Kootenay National Parks.

Where to eat in Panorama and on the mountain
Grey’s Restaurant Located in the Earl Grey Lodge, the award-winning Grey’s restaurant provides a great first-class dining experience that simply cannot be missed if you are visiting Panorama. There is an a la carte menu which has everything from lobster and bacon risotto to uniquely Canadian offerings like boar tacos and braised elk. Children and vegetarians are equally welcome too with special menus for both. The Earl Grey Lodge is well-suited to weddings and special occasions. To discuss your requirements, get in contact with the friendly British expat owners, Phil and Clare. To wet your taste buds, have at the full la carte menu, which is on their website. The restaurant is rightfully popular so reservations are recommended.
Summit Hut If you are after a truly unforgettable après ski experience at Panorama, for special and ordinary occasions alike, then you must take the last lift of the day to the summit and check out the fine food available at the Summit Hut. The Summit Hut has some absolutely spectacular panoramic views of over a thousand Rockies peaks, an intimate atmosphere and some famously delicious fondue, which come in two varieties – traditional cheese and a beef, seafood and vegetable option. Rounding off an utterly unforgettable experience is the guided ski down to the Panorama Village. The special après fondue experience is popular, so reservations are recommended. The Summit Hut offers more than après fondue and is open from 10 am to 4pm daily. To warm you up, there is a good selection of delicious hot drinks, soups and homemade food to choose from. To calm you down, there is a selection of beers, soft drinks and, of course, some fine British Columbian wines.
Wildfire Rustic Grill The Wildfire Rustic Grill serves up some tasty value for money fusion food with a smile. The Grill is located in the Pine Inn in the Upper Village. The menu is suitable for all ages and includes the likes of halibut, St. Louis ribs, duck and steaks that are cooked perfectly. To round off a great day’s skiing, The Wildfire Rustic Grill is perfect for families and groups alike . Open at 5pm for dinner.
Mile High Pizza For the tastiest pizza in the Panorama Village head to Mile High Pizza, which is located in the Toby Creek Lodge next to the General Store in the Lower Village. The home made, stone-baked pizzas come with a nice variety of toppings. Mile High also serve salads and appetisers and you can either eat-in or take your food back to your accommodation. Picnic Café If you’re heading to the slopes in the morning, drop by the Picnic Café for a delicious cup of Kicking Horse Coffee, which is the number one Fair Trade organic brand in Canada. The café is a stone’s throw away from the lifts, located in the Pine Inn in the Upper Village. The café is also open for lunch if you need a short break from the slopes. At lunchtime, they serve up a delicious variety of sandwiches, soups and freshly baked foods.
Lusti’s Cappuccino Bar If you fancy a short break from the action and you need a coffee to warm you up/recharge your batteries so you put some more blinding runs in, be sure to head to Lusti’s Cappuccino Bar. They proudly serve Kicking Horse Coffee, which is the no.1 Fair Trade organic coffee brand in Canada. Lusti’s is located in the Tamarack Lodge in the Upper Village.
The Great Hall The aptly named Great Hall is in the Upper Village next to the ski lifts, so it is a perfect place for a pre-skiing coffee or a quick bite to eat between runs. If you can’t wait to get back to the skiing, there’s some tasty sushi, salads and sandwiches to take with you. Hot meals to warm you up in the cold Canadian winter are also available, including soups, daily specials, burgers, and pizza. The stir fries from the stir fry station, where you can choose your ingredients, are not to be missed. The Great Hall can accommodate up to 250 people, so it is a super location for special occasions and wedding receptions.
Chopper’s Landing Restaurant The clue to the location of the Chopper’s Landing Restaurant is in the name; the restaurant is located right next to the helipad in the Lower Village, so if you’ve spent a terrific day skiing the off piste terrain at Panorama, Chopper’s is an ideal location for a drink, a bite to eat and plenty of reminiscing about the epic adventures you’ve had. The restaurant is of course open to those skiing on piste as well. The friendly laid back atmosphere is welcoming for everyone including groups, families and couples. Samples from the menu as of the 13/14 season are some mouth-watering burgers, sandwiches, steaks, surf & turf and hearty homemade soups. Opening hours are usually 3pm Wednesday to Sunday.

Jackpine pub The Jackpine pub is located in the Horsetheif Lodge in the Lower Village. The Jackpine is a traditional old-school pub that is a popular with the locals for a cold après beer or two. True to the general vibe of the Panorama Village, the pub is laid back and friendly. Opening hours: open during the winter, usually 5pm -12pm daily

Pure Massage If you’ve had a particularly hard day on the slopes or fancy a day off, you might be keen to sample the ultimate in relaxation available at Pure Massage, Panorama Mountain Village. Toby Creek Adventures If you heading to Panorama Mountain Village, and fancy a break from skiing, why not try snowmobiling with Toby Creek Adventures. Suited to all ages, they offer a range of snowmobile tours, including a full-on five hour classic tour of Paradise Basin, where you can discover scenic trails, diverse wildlife, visit the remains of an early 1900’s silver mining town and an enjoy a spectacular icefall walk in a 600 year old forest. Also available are private snowmobile rentals and bespoke tours to suit your requirements. Panorama Hot Spring Pools An experience that you must not miss at Panorama are the hot spring pools. The pools are located within the grounds of the Panorama Springs Lodge and are open to everyone staying at the resort. The slope side location of the pools is spectacular and for this reason, the resort was included in a worldwide list of “10 spectacular ski resort pools and hot tubs” compiled by USA Today. The warm pool is heated to a comfortable 90 F and is a huge 1258 square feet in size. There are also two hot tubs with the upper hot tub heated to 101 F and the lower to 98 F. Towels, showers, lockers and hair dryers are supplied at no extra charge. Opening hours: 10am - 10pm daily (double check when you’re there as this could change!)
Panorama Tube and Toboggan Park Are your little ones (or the inner child in you) still full of beans after a long day’s skiing? If so, check out Panorama Tube and Toboggan Park in the Upper Village, right next to the hot spring pools. The park offers great evening activities for groups and families, staying open even after the ski lifts are closed. In past seasons, the Panorama Tube and Toboggan Park has been included as a part of the Panopass - free for everyone with lift tickets or a season pass.
Saffire Beads and Flameworks Saffire Beads and Flameworks is an artisan shop located in the Pine Lodge in the Upper Village. The shop sells unique artwork and beads produced in the Columbia valley. If you need a bit of time off from skiing and want to exercise your creativity, glass art classes are available. The friendly Saffire team will show you how to make everything from jewellery to beads over an open flame.
Panorama Nordic Centre – Snow Shoeing If you want to try snow shoeing, check out the Panorama Nordic Centre in the Lower Village. There is around 4 km of trails suited to snow shoeing, and equipment hire and trail maps are available. Also available are snow shoe tours. Snow shoeing is free as a part of the PanoPass which is included free with every lift ticket and season pass.
Panorama Nordic Centre - Cross Country Skiing There are 20 km of well-groomed trails available at Panorama for both skate and classic skiing. The variety of terrain on offer is suitable for cross country skiers of all abilities. Highlights include the great scenery along the Toby Creek trail.
Clothing Food & Souvenir Shops
Can-Ski is a retail shop located on the slopeside of Ski Tip Lodge. Cozy Panorama logo clothing is available, the perfect souvenir. Top-of-the-line skis, snowboards and boots as well as high performance outerwear can also be purchased.
At the Bavin Glass Cabin the works of local artisans who work in the medium of glass can be viewed and purchased. The shop also offers glass bead-making and jewellery-making classes.
The nearby town of Invermere on the Lake (18km/11 miles) features supermarkets, a post office, bars and restaurants, shopping and working art studios.
The General Store If you are staying in self-catering apartments, the General Store in the Toby Creek Lodge in the lower village stocks a full range of food products including fresh meat, sweets and more. They also sell gifts and items for special occasions including platters, birthday cakes and gift baskets. If you fancy a quiet après drink in your accommodation, the General Store stocks beers, wines and spirits, sold at normal non-premium prices. If the General Store doesn’t have something in stock, they will even aim to source it for you within 24 hours. Opening hours: 8:00am - 10pm daily.
Final Gate Ski Shop Have you come all the way to Panorama and forgotten a piece of vital equipment? Never fear! Final Gate is here! Whether you are looking for a vital piece of equipment or would like to upgrade, the Final Gate ski shop is well-stocked with all the major brands, including Spyder, Helly Hansen, The North Face, Giro, Smith, Oakley and more. Equipment stocked includes skis, snowboards, boots, bindings, poles, safety equipment, ski/snowboard clothing, shirts, hoodies, POV cameras, souvenirs and more. The shop is located in the Ski Tip Lodge in the upper village, which is right next to the ski lifts and majority of restaurants and bars at Panorama. Opening hours: 8:30am - 9pm daily.
Panorama and Lusti’s Mountain Outfitters Panorama and Lusti’s Mountain Outfitters is the place to go if you need to hire ski and snowboarding equipment. They stock leading brands including Salomon, Nordica, Rossignol and Burton and they have packages to suit skiers of every ability, size and age. Mountain Outfitter’s offer one to eight day packages, with 8 to 14 day packages available on request.
