Our Ylläs Log Cabins make a perfect base for your holiday, offer a charming and cosy retreat in the Finnish resort of Ylläs combining rustic log cabin aesthetics with modern comforts. The log cabins are set around the village of Äkäslompolo - some are close to the centre while others are more remote, amongst the snow covered trees. The cabins range from around 250-1000 metres (5-30 min walk) to the the main excursion meeting point at the Akas Hotel, which is near the centre of the village.
Wake up to blankets of snow surrounding your very own log cabin. It's one of the most authentic ways to experience Finnish Lapland. Each cabin is unique, some are built from round pine logs, others are more modern and are made using flat planed log. They all adjoin another cabin and can be terraced, end of terrace or semi-detached. All of the cabins are equipped with all the modern amenities you'd need for a comfortable stay. Up here in the arctic circle they've mastered heating and insulating the cabins - plus each one has its own private sauna and fireplace, great for warming up after a day of exploring Ylläs. Many of the cabins also offer stunning views of the surrounding wilderness. although each cabin varies in location -with some of the cabins being close to the centre ofresort, while others are set in the more remote areas of Ylläs. They also vary in size and capacity, making them suitable for couples, families, and larger groups.
Our cabins are available self-catered or with an optional half board upgrade. They're all well-equipped with kitchen facilities and a dining table - making them a great choice for families looking to stay self-catered. There's an excellent, well-stocked supermarket in the village centre, along with cafes, shops and restaurants. You'll also have the choice to upgrade to half board, where you can enjoy hearty buffet style breakfasts and dinners in the Akas Hotel restaurant.
Lapland is one of the best places in the world to witness the Northern Lights and staying in the Ylläs Log Cabins during the winter months provides an excellent opportunity to witness this natural phenomenon. The cabins are also a great base to enjoy our optional extra activities such as snowmobiling, reindeer and husky rides and snow shoeing. Plus after a day of exploring, you can unwind in your cabin's private sauna or by the fireplace.

Rooms
All our cabins are either semi-detached or in a terraced row of 3 or 4 cabins. Cabin exteriors can be made from either round or planed logs.
One bedroom cabins are around 45m² with a 10m² mezzanine. They can sleep 2 - 4 people, with one twin bedroom downstairs and two mattress beds on the mezzanine. These cabins have an open-plan living room/kitchenette. Cabins that sleep up to five people, with a third bed on the mezzanine are also available.
Two bedroom cabins are about 57m² and can sleep 3 - 6 people. The cabins have two twin bedrooms. Groups of 5-6 people will be allocated a cabin with a mezzanine (about 20m²) with two extra beds. Groups of 1-4 people may be allocated a cabin without a mezzanine.
Cabin facilities
The Yllas Log Cabins are self-catering cabins, each cabin has an equipped kitchen and dining room table. The nearby supermarket is well stocked, and is open until 9pm (times to be confirmed locally).
If you would rather have your meals included, there is an optional pre-bookable half board supplement for buffet breakfast and 3 course buffet dinner, taken at the Akas (Snow Elf) Hotel.
A Festive Feast, a Christmas celebration meal with games and music, is included on the final night of your holiday. Please note that the Festive Feast will replace your last half-board dinner.
