Overview: chalet description: Xtra Chalet du Montet description

Sleeps 24-26

Specially built for us in 2012, this charming Xtra Chalet is ideally located in Le Fornet, one of the most picturesque parts of the resort, and provides a fantastic base for those looking to be first on the mountain.

Xtra Chalet du Montet is only approximately 4 minutes’ walk from the main Le Fornet cable-car giving direct access into the Espace Killy ski area- perfect for those wanting to be first on the mountain! The shuttle-bus stop (which runs until midnight / until 2:30am in high season) can also be used for the short ride to the resort centre. The regular free ski-bus is also useful in the mornings if you wish to start on the Bellevarde or La Daille areas for a change. At the end of the day, experienced skiers can ski directly back to the hotel via an unpisted track.

The du Montet is actually a top-to-bottom conversion of a traditional stone farmhouse, and where possible – as you can see from our photo above – the owner has left the rustic original stonework exposed. The interior meanwhile has been totally re-fitted to an exacting and extremely stylish standard throughout, with superbly equipped bedrooms, complete with TV/DVD players, iPod/mp3 docking stations and Wi-Fi as well as en suite bathrooms. The fantastic facilities are completed by a spa area, ideal for unwinding after a long day on the mountain.

Christmas & New Year Celebrations

Join us for a proper ‘White Christmas’ in the Alps! All our chalets have a Christmas tree and most have log fires, so combined with great food, good company, and no cooking or washing up, there’s no better place to be! We serve turkey with all the trimmings on Christmas Day, with a pre-dinner glass of Champagne, mince pies and Christmas pudding to follow crackers.

On New Year’s Eve, all our chalets and Chalet Hotels serve a special Celebration Menu, preceded by a glass of Champagne. After dinner join the resort festivities, generally with fireworks to see in the New Year.

We update Xtra Chalet du Montet's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

In France's Rhone Alp region, Val d'Isere (pronounced: val de saire/sare/ser or val d sere) is widely thought of as one of the most brilliant and beautiful ski areas in the world. In keeping with the giddyingly gorgeous surroundings, the resort itself is one of France's prettiest - a huddle alpine hamlets formed from cosy wood and stone chalets. With the original village dating back to the 13th century and a Christmas-card-worthy church steeple at its centre, there’s alpine charm by the bucket load. While dre...
Skiers in Val d'Isere are schussing in the tracks of some of the world's greatest skiers. Olympic medallists Marielle and Christine Goitschel learned to ski here, not to mention triple gold winner Jean-Claude Killy, after whom the wider ski area is named. As an indication of this place's premier status - the resort has hosted championships including the 1992 Olympics, the World Alpine Ski Championships in 2009 and World Cup events every December. If some of the best skiers in history have learned here, begi...
Famed for its après ski, there's no chance of a dull evening in Val. Living up to its name, you'll experience ‘sweet madness' at the original Le Folie Douce, which brings you some of the best après ski in Europe - including dancers, musicians, raining champagne and much more... Once that closes, Dicks T Bar's a local legend, staying open into the early hours each night. Bananas is another firm favourite, much loved for its crafty cocktails and slope-side location. In Val d'Isere's 90-something restaurants, ...

"Superb chalet & top staff"

Joe M, Scotland
5/ out of 5
Regarding the Montet itself, it was fabulous. Everything was clean, tidy and very well kept. The people who work there are absolutely top notch – they really were all fantastic from the manager lady to Charlie and co. The food was brilliant! We didn’t realise until we got there that our head chef had worked in a Meribel chalet we stayed in the year before. He was a top man – one of the girls in our party had a lot of allergies and he sat down with us on the first night to devise a special menu that suited everyone. The only thing was having to walk from the chalet to the bus stop. This wasn’t a problem for me or the majority of people I stayed with (the buses were very frequent) but others weren’t best pleased. I think you’d end up paying a lot more to be beside the slopes!

"No complaints at all"

If this chalet is as good as it was last year you will have an amazing stay. It was absolutely tip top! I would recommend it to anyone, wherever you have been or stayed before. I have stayed in dozens of chalets before and this was one of the best. You could pay 2 or 3 times as much as I paid and you wouldn’t find a better chalet or hotel. The food was excellent, drinks were good, whole place nicely furnished (it was new when we stayed here), nice dining area and there’s a lovely sauna and steam room. Nice room, good size, warm, nice bathroom, our room had a front view facing over the front door of the chalet – absolutely amazing. It’s near the cable car in La Daille or you can walk or get the bus to the new chairlift. If you’re a novice skier, this might not be the place to stay for ski in / ski out as its quite far from any easy skiing – it would be best for intermediates and above unless you don’t mind getting the bus into Val d’Isere.
