Overall, I wasn’t blown away. You get what you pay for in terms of decor and stuff but it’s not particularly swish. We liked the amenities for families - there’s a games room and spa which were both fine and the convenience was great. The Villa Strass is a great-value option if you want to save a little cash, without skimping on facilities. It’s part of the Sport & Spa Hotel Strass complex, so you’re able to use the main hotel’s pool and family sauna.

The location's great too, right next to the Penken gondola. In the morning, you can just grab your skis and boots from the boot room, hop on the lift and be on the slopes in no time.

Inside the hotel, things are simple and homely, with plenty of traditional Austrian charm. Many of the rooms have balconies, so you have some private space where you can enjoy the views.

When it comes to mealtimes, you’ll head across to the main hotel in the morning to fuel up with a hot and cold breakfast buffet.

"Shame about the food"

Overall, I wasn’t blown away. You get what you pay for in terms of decor and stuff but it’s not particularly swish. We liked the amenities for families - there’s a games room and spa which were both fine and the convenience was great. The downside was that the food wasn’t too good and we ended up eating out (which was fine because we were in the village but annoying that I had already paid for half board). There was a very limited choice overall and my daughter needs gluten free but they didn’t make much of an effort at all which was disappointing. I would probably stay in the hotel again but I wouldn’t pay for half board.
