Overview: hotel description: VAYA Seefeld description

This stay was previously called the Hotel Veronika, and it’s more than just the name that’s changed. It’s had a spruce up in the looks department too, with lots of warm wood and soft lighting from the lobby to the bedrooms – think authentic alpine done with a modern twist.

As for facilities, it’s got all the bases covered. Decked out with textured timber and cosy armchairs, the hotel bar is your perfect spot to snuggle up with your favourite après tipple. Swimming and sauna-ring are on the cards in the sleek wellness area. And if you’re staying with little ones, you can pop into the kids’ play area to add in story time and games to those off-slope hours.

Days start with a hot and cold buffet spread, so you can fuel up on eggs and bacon or keep things continental with croissants, fresh rolls and platters of cold cuts. Fast forward to the evening meal and you’re treated to three courses of seasonal local fare. Plus, with a wine cellar chockful of top-notch vintages from Austria, Italy and Switzerland, there’s always a glass of something special to go with your food.

Seefeld is a fairly large, laid-back and traditionally Austrian village in the Innsbruck Valley of Tirol. Its history goes far back, as evidenced by the charming village churches - one of which was built in the 13th Century. Nowadays there are modern facilities and an abundance of luxury hotels with gourmet restaurants and swanky bars to be found here. Skiers and non-skiers alike will love the bundle of activities, events and attractions in this stunningly scenic area. With a whopping 279km of cross-country sk...
Downhill skiing is mostly split between lifts up the Rosshütte and the Gschwandtkopf which are accessible by car or ski buses, but if there’s one thing everyone can appreciate on or off the piste it will be the gorgeous views across the frosty woodland range. There’s a reserved nursery area further down the village in Geigenbühel and another at the Birkenlifte. Beginners have a good few runs to pick from up the mountain – the Gschwandtkopf is the best area with wide gentle blues careering down from the su...
The Ski-Alm at the bottom of the Rosshütte is the most popular place to kick off an evening of après. For a classy sherry together after a day on the slopes head into the Hotel Klosterbräu’s Piano Bar and relax by the fire. Inside the Fundisco you can find the Britannia pub with darts, billiards and pinball machines. Later on the Jeep discothèque opens for some thumping techno late into the evening. The Fledermaus is another recommended club known for its swish cocktails. For a meal on the mountain, the R...

"Return guests @ Aktivhotel Veronika"

Diane, Hertfordshire
5/ out of 5
The hotel is really good – we’ve stayed in the Veronika several times, one of the main reasons we return is because it has a fitness centre and a pool which not all hotels in Seefeld have. It’s also right in the middle of Seefeld which is very convenient. The food is good (not all traditional Austrian, more international cuisine) and the staff are very friendly. When one of us had to go to hospital due to illness, they were very good to us.

"Brilliant hotel, loved the spa facilities"

This hotel is really nice, couldn’t fault it and would definitely go back here again! Our room wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t terrible either. I think there’s an old and new part of the hotel - request a room in the new part if you can as the only thing about our room in the older part was that it was quite cold and we ended up having to ask for a heater. Otherwise it was fine, we had a duplex room which was on 2 levels (you went in and there was the bathroom and a little seating area with a TV and tables and then you went down a few steps to the bedroom). In terms of the facilities, the pool, sauna and steam room were all lovely and we really enjoyed them. The food was tasty with a 5 course set menu each night. You got to choose at breakfast time what you wanted in the evening, which saved you from waiting around later on. If you want to get to the skiing, you could walk if you wanted to. They also had a shuttle bus that would take you straight down in the mornings and then you just needed to ring up for them to collect you when you wanted to come back.
