Overview: hotel description: Valtur Cervinia Cristallo Ski Resort 4 Star description

This isn’t your standard 4-star stay – it’s actually part of the all-singing, all-dancing Valtur Cervinia Cristallo Ski Resort 5 Star. This means you'll get a fab line-up of extras, from a swish pool to play areas for the kids, without busting the bank.

Rooms are in an annexe building that’s linked to the main hotel by a corridor, so you can pad between the two without going outside. Décor-wise, it’s a case of modern meets traditional. Some of the bedrooms are done up with an on-trend pastel colour scheme while others have that classic alpine look.

Days here start with a buffet spread, where you’ve got all your breakfast favourites, from cereal and pastries to eggs and bacon. Next, it's off to the slopes, and the hotel shuttle will get you there in moments. Post-piste, stretch out the legs with a swim, or dial up the luxury and pay a little extra for a spell in the 5-star spa area. Then to cap things off, you’ll tuck in a 4-course buffet of Italian specialities and international classics.

With first-track skiing for early risers who can beat everyone else to the slopes, Cervinia is a snowball of varied surprises. 18 beginner runs make this ideal for novice skiers wanting to embark on their romance with snow sports. Take the chair lift up to Plan Torrette to get a feel for the gentler blue runs. This is a great place for children to learn as ski schools take young skiers up magic carpets and around a whole new world of slopes. "I can’t say enough wonderful things about it! "

The rooms we had, had a double and single bed in each room. The rooms were good quality, the bathrooms were great quality, everything was great. The spa you had to pay a bit extra for, but it was top quality! In the evenings at the back of the hotel they lit firepits for outdoor seating. They had a games room with a Formula 1 simulator and some of the guys had a go with that. The entertainment was slightly unusual but still very amusing. They really went the extra mile and we were absolutely blown away. Everyone was mega impressed and for a skiing holiday, I’ve never stayed in such good quality. The staff did lots of things that just made it that much better. The food was absolutely top notch. I travel all the time with work and I’ve been to a lot of hotels, this was honestly the best quality I’ve had. It was buffet food, but the buffet was unbelievably good. We had so much choice and the food was amazing. We probably had about 10x choices of starters and mains, if not more…it was simply amazing. You can use it as ski in/ski out. There is a drag at the back of the hotel that takes you up to a little run that you can ski to the nearest lift. You wouldn’t do it as a beginner, you’d need to be at least an intermediate for that and the run is quite steep coming back to the hotel. Beginners can use the free shuttle busses which were so good and efficient and seemed to run all the time.
