· 2 minutes’ walk to the centre of Sierra Nevada · 5 minutes’ walk to the Al-Andalus gondola · access to the ski school meeting point and nursery slope via the Al-Andalus gondola
The Mountains Hotel’s location is rather hard to beat. You’re right on the plaza here, so prime position whether you’re looking to dine out, explore the resort or just for a quick start to your day’s skiing. At a 3-minute stroll, you can be at the lifts in heartbeat and there’s even underground access from the hotel car park – the ski lockers are on the way too, right by the Al-Andalus gondola.
Having had a bit of a facelift back in 2023, the hotel’s looking pretty smart. The communal areas are stylish and modern – contemporary, minimalist design gives things a real sleek feel. Here and there, perhaps during a visit to the Beso bar for example, you might even spot a hint of art deco – it’s a subtle influence, but it definitely adds a touch of retro luxury to the place.
You can expect some great views too. The bar, lounge and restaurant are open plan and the whole floor is lined with floor to ceiling windows. For a toast with the best view though, you’ll want to pay a visit to the Sunrise bar out on the terrace. After a day’s skiing there’s nothing like finding a seat by the fire, watching the sun set over the mountains and raising a glass with some live music.
· 2 bars, Beso indoors and Sunrise on the terrace · lounge · sun terrace · live music · extra cost for massages and treatments · extra cost for pool and spa facilities at the nearby Melia Sol Y Nieve Hotel · free ski lockers located at the Al-Andalus gondola station · free WiFi · lift to all floors

There aren’t many resorts where you can ski in the morning, and be lazing on a beach come afternoon. But Sierra Nevada’s one of them – up in Europe’s second highest mountain range, with the Mediterranean coast within an hour’s drive.
