Have a restrictive diet and catered very well. Couldn’t have been better location wise. Previously taken own kit but it’s now out of date, I was shocked at cost of hire the kit – could buy second hand board for cheaper than hire Family Holiday hence going at half term 5/5 for every reason. + more

A brilliant stay in Sporthotel Strass, it’s a lovely hotel and we will definitely be back. Our 2 rooms had a connecting door which worked well. They were really quiet as requested, the beds were comfortable and everything was clean and tidy. The facilities in the rest of the hotel were also really good. We ended up having drinks with the likes of Bill Bailey, Marcus Brigstocke and Sean Locke as it was the Altitude Comedy festival and they were staying in the same hotel! The meals weren’t to everyone’s tastes but there was always an alternative like lasagne if you wanted something else. The hotel is slap bang in the centre of town and literally next to the ski lift – from our balcony we could watch the gondola going up and down.

The best thing about the hotel is that there’s lots of space. The facilities are really good too, my Gran was there with us and used the spa area a lot. The waitresses were amazing and the one that tended to us all week was very helpful and got on with everyone really well. To get to the lift, you walk out the hotel and turn right, then walk up the road for 20m and you’re at the lift. One of the main bars in Mayrhofen – Ice Bar – was part of the hotel which was good for after you come off the lift (it was going from about 4pm or earlier). The main bars of the hotel were really nice too. I shared a room with my brother and our room was good – we had a balcony with a really nice view. All the rooms had plenty of space and nice facilities. The food was really good, I’m quite a picky eater but I liked everything they served. It was a mix between regional dishes and other stuff but all home cooked with a decent variety and good presentation. They had a buffet salad bar besides your 3 main courses, starter, main and desert. We were staying over Christmas and they did two big meals on Christmas eve and Christmas day as they celebrate Austrian Christmas on the 24th – I think the food on Christmas eve was rabbit and on Christmas day it was veal. It was also my brother’s birthday while we were here – they made us a cake which they then kept in the kitchen and brought out for us to eat over the next few days.
