Val Thorens Ski Weekends
Europe’s highest ski resort and the world’s hugest ski area are ideal for short breaks. Conditions are likely to be amazing, and you couldn’t run out of pistes over your time here if you tried.
Best of all, Val Thorens is a ski in, ski out resort, meaning you’ll waste no time trudging in ski boots or cramming into shuttle buses – and instead get straight out and enjoy the good stuff. Which is brilliant however long you stay here, but especially so if you only have a few days to spare.
You can get here from a handful of airports, Chambery (CHF) being the closest at a 90 minute drive away. The transfer from Grenoble (GNB) takes 2h15, while from Geneva airport you’re looking at 2.5 hours on the road.
Chalets and hotels are the main places to stay in here over weekends and mid-week breaks. Chalets include breakfasts, afternoon tea and cake and supper with wine in the cost of your stay, while half board hotels throw in breakfasts and dinners. If you’d prefer a bit more freedom to eat when and where you like, look out for properties offering B&B.
