Overview: hotel description: Savoia Palace Hotel description

The Savoia has been one of Madonna di Campliglio’s top hotels since 1886, so they know a thing or two about making your stay special. First up is the service, with friendly local staff on hand to get you settled from day one. Then to ramp up the holiday feels, you’ve got a swish spa and food that’s bound to put a smile on your face.

The location’s on point too. In the morning, pop down to the ski room to pick up your gear before walking a couple of minutes to get to the gondola. Then after a day of slope swooshing, you’ve got all the action in the centre of the village on your doorstep.

Back at the hotel, there’s a traditional feel from top to bottom, with plenty of wood and tartan-patterned carpets. The hub of the hotel is the lounge bar, where there’s live music most nights, so get comfy in a fireside armchair and listen along with a drink in hand.

And to wrap up the day, there’s four courses of Italian cooking done to a T. We’re talking creamy carbonara and tender meat that melts in the mouth - and of course, there's a top-notch wine list too.

Classic ski village Linked area Epic Dolomites scenery

Among the classic destinations for Italian ski holidays, Madonna di Campiglio’s charming mountain village is one of the greats. Connections to Folgarida and Marilleva mean you can explore other areas without having to remove your skis (but with the standard of food on offer, you might want to give your legs a break in a mountain restaurant or two...).

You’ll find Madonna di Campiglio surrounded by a wooded valley, between the cliffs of the Brenta Dolomites (now a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Adamello - Presanella glaciers. This drop-dead gorgeous scenery’s just one reason to ski here; it’s a classic in the skiing world, with traditional buildings and a lively atmosphere... And while others enjoy the buzz of the town, the joint ski area of Folgarida, Marilleve and Madonna di Campiglio is out there to explore. Launched as a tourist centre towards the...
Beginners in ski school are usually taken by bus to the nursery slopes in nearby Campo Carlo Magna. Once ready to progress, there are two areas for relatively easy skiing at the top of the Pradalago and Groste sectors (served by the gondola from the village) where you'll find plenty of wide cruising trails - we like the 3 mile Graffer run in the Groste area which ends up in the village. Intermediates can enjoy some lovely long cruisey trails through forests. The new red piste Nambino (in the 5 Laghi area) is ...
There’s a lot more going on in the evenings here than in other Italian resorts Italy; with a mixed following of young boarders and the Italian elite, the après includes everything from big nightclubs and lively bars to posh wine bars and cocktail lounges. Zangola is the biggest night club, famous for its dancing and late night partying. It's situated just outside the town but in past seasons there's been a bus which runs all night. Des Alps is the second (slightly pricier) nightclub in the village centre. Two ...

Hotel Savoia Palace – Brilliant Hotel, Staff / Location / Cleanliness / great atmosphere in the evenings / Food was outstanding. I have skied many ski Hotels over the past 40years, the food in this hotel is in the top Three, really was excellent. Resort had good variety of slopes for all abilities, not much Off-Piste, but new that before we booked. Snow conditions were good, we Had a huge dump of snow about 750mm, unfortunately as with most low-lying European resorts the temperatures were 4 – 8 Deg C, should have been light fluffy powder but sadly was heavy crud. A sign of the times I think !!!! 4.5/5
