The apartments were all clean, a bit small but for what we needed they were fine. We were a group of 5 mates with one room of 2 and one of 3. You’re right on the slopes so you can walk out the door and pretty much onto the slopes... it takes about 5 minutes to get into town. There’s a little Spar nearby if yo... + more

Italy - great value. Pizza at 4euros beats 20euros in France. Coffee for 1euro. Accomodation was fine. Super near the piste. The resort was family friendly. Bardonecchia’s not big but good for the kids and not heavily skied out even when busy. + more

Overview: apartment description: Residence Campo Smith description

The Campo Smith apartments are pretty distinctive – a futuristic-looking building with curved, concrete walls and sweeping, flat roofs. It’s built at the foot of Bardonecchia’s nursery slopes, so heading up the mountain is easy peasy – and you can ski right back to the door at the end of the day. It’s a bit further to the resort centre, but you can hop on the ski bus that stops nearby if you don’t fancy the walk.

Inside the apartments, you’ll find everything you need for a no-frills stay in the mountains. There’s a compact kitchenette where you can whip up a simple supper, as well as small living area for kicking back in at the end of the ski day.

There's not much in the way of extra facilities, but with such great skiing on your doorstep, you won't be spending much time here anyway.

This package holiday to Residence Campo Smith in Bardonecchia, Italy departs Sunday 15th March 2026, for a 7 night stay on a "self catering" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 2024 was between €1 and €3 per person, per night.

You’ll find Bardonecchia in a sunny, forest surrounded location at the end of the Susa Valley in North West Piedmont. A proper mountain town rather than a purpose built resort, it’s steeped in history with cobbled streets, ancient chapels and historic hamlets. This bustling old market town was one of Italy’s first ski resorts back at the very beginning of the 20th century and continues to be one of the country’s best resorts. Covered by an efficient bus service, the town boarders France and is on the Ital...
Colomion-Les Arnauds, Mezelet and Jafferau are the 3 ski areas covered by the lift pass and you can usually ski one day in Montgenevre or the Milky way too. Colomion-Les Arnauds is the largest ski area, with great connections to Melezet's wide, sloping runs. The Jafferau slopes are a short bus ride away and have some amazing off piste. With beginners’ slopes starting from the edge of the main centre, learners can get to grips with new sensations with the help of gentle magic carpets. 45% of the runs are clas...
The Lalimentari Multicafe is a swanky abode open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, putting local specialities of polenta, game and mountain produced cheeses on your table. American style restaurant, Garage Bar, is a great place for children and you can enjoy a divine coffee break at Bar Miretti, as you watch the world go by with a crumbly, Italian pastry in one hand, and a blend of fragrant coffee beans in the other. Chalet style restaurants like Lo Chalet provide the perfect to warm up with good food and wine an...

"Terrific location"

James Hounsome, Lymington
5/ out of 5
Our apartment was fantastic and ticked all the boxes for what we needed. Everything was really good - all comfortable and clean inside - especially for what we paid, they weren’t 5* apartments but we didn’t pay a 5* price. Two of us in a three person apartment worked quite nicely, a third person would have been sleeping on a pull out futon in the main area which might not have been ideal. We had probably the best location I’ve ever had skiing – we walked out the door and were maybe 50m to the main lift with the ticket office etc right there. To get to the supermarket was a long walk which took us about an hour (there are little ski shops nearer but not food places). There’s a bar downstairs which was lovely and we liked the little restaurant across the piste when we weren’t cooking in the apartment. The only thing I would improve would be the showers – there wasn’t even enough space to bend down and pick up your shower gel.

"Perfect for what we needed"

There’s a little Spar nearby if you want to cook and if you want to eat out, Bardonecchia has some quite nice restaurants (we really liked the one right next door to the apartments).

We had a very good week and our apartment was great. The apartment we had was on 3 levels which was a bit different – you went in the entrance at the top, then down into the living room and could go further down again to the bedroom. There were plenty of beds for the 3 of us – 1 of us slept in the living area and the other 2 were in the bedroom downstairs. The facilities were excellent and we had a regular cleaner and very good staff. We cooked basic stuff a few times but mostly ate out as there aren’t many shops in the village and the main town of Bardonecchia was a good 10 minute walk away, which was a bit of an effort in terms of carrying shopping about. They have a very convenient location, the balcony was actually looking over the mountains and it was only a couple of minutes to the first lift.
