Overview: hotel description: Renè Dolomites Boutique Hotel, Pozza di Fassa description

An elegant, family-run pick, this hotel is smack-bang in the middle of the Dolomite mountains. The lifts to the Val di Fassa ski area are a short bus ride away, and the bus stops just outside the hotel so it couldn't be easier to get out skiing each day. And the facilities are top-notch too. Swap the slopes for the spa to really relax after a day on the hill – the pool and hot tub are inside a unique glass pyramid building, so you can take a dip and enjoy views of the snowy mountains at the same time.

The Renè's décor takes traditional Italian-alpine style and gives it a modern twist. You'll find plenty of wooden beams and flooring, light and bright fabrics and comfy armchairs beside the fire. The bedrooms are modern and have a simple colour scheme of black, white and natural wood, and there are minimalist mountainscape engravings too. And the spa's pretty special – it's designed to help you relax, with plenty of soft lighting and warm colours.

And you're in for a real treat when it comes to mealtimes. You'll stay half board here, so your breakfasts and evening meals are covered. Tuck into a tasty buffet to set you up for the slopes, with eggs, cereal, juices and freshly-baked pastries on the menu. And to round off the day there's a 5-course evening meal in the restaurant, which serves up authentic dishes from the Trentino valley. It's a salad buffet to start, then you'll get to choose from a few options what to have for your first, second and dessert courses.
