Overview: apartment description: Résidence Le Nevada Apartments, Tignes Val Claret description

The Résidence Le Nevada Apartments are decorated in a traditional North American style, and the onsite facilities are the real highlight.

Each apartment has a genuine holiday apartment feel to it, with tiled countertops, pastel walls, aged timber furniture and comfy furnishings.

You can fuel up for breakfast by booking the bakery delivery service the evening before and picking it up from reception in the morning – just another one of the little things done well at the Nevada.

As for the spa, once you see it you’ll never want to leave. The design is funky and earthy with modern saunas and hammams, and there's a fitness room overlooking the pool, which is surrounded by stone pillars with glass walls.

The apartments are a stone’s throw from the main bars in Val Claret, just a minute's walk up the street. The nearest lift is 5 minutes’ walk, and there are three more within 15 minutes' walk, so you can access different areas of the mountain.

Espace Killy ski area Fantastic après ski High altitude skiing

Tignes is somewhere you can ski longer, higher and further than most other resorts in the Alps. Owing its snow-reliability to the Grande Motte glacier, the local ski area is joined with Val d’Isere’s to form the mammoth Espace Killy - intermediates will have a whale of a time here. Choose between 5 different villages, whether your priority is convenience, cosiness or cheap accommodation. Tignes also has one of the most famous New Year parties in the Alps.

Tignes ski resort (pronounce it 'Teens') is one half of the stunning Espace Killy, one of the biggest linked ski areas in France. Because of its high-altitude terrain and access to the Grande Motte glacier, the resort is open both earlier and later in the season than many others and often the lifts are running for short periods of summer skiing. Predominantly purpose built, the resort itself is divided into 5 villages, each different in its own way but all well linked by lifts and bus services. The main area...
With varied pistes at a high altitude, the ski area has impressive powdered terrain for skiers and boarders alike. Beginners can practice on the nursery slopes at Le Lac and Le Lavachet, where you'll find gentle, quiet runs that are accessible via free beginners' lifts. Le Bollin at Val Claret is another conveniently situated green and Grattalu is a lovely wide blue for those wanting to build confidence. Tignes is incredible if you ski at an intermediate level, with miles of powdery blue and red runs includi...
While it's said that those who appreciate Tignes do so for the serious skiing over the après ski, this doesn't do justice to the fact that Tignes' 60+ bars/pubs and 4 night clubs provide some of the best nightlife in the Alps. All villages have their fair share of places to eat and drink, and with a shuttle bus service running 24 hours, you can enjoy your evening without worrying about the journey back. Jam bar is small but with a great atmosphere and Loop bar pretty much offers it all: with live sport, world c...

"Spot on"

Perfect, I couldn’t complain about anything. The apartments are about 100m from the lifts (it can feel like a bit of a trek but 100m is nothing). We tried to ski back to them but we had to take our skis off once we got back to the town and then walk. There were 2 Jacuzzis which are good to chill out in after skiing. The gym was all brand new although I wish there had been some weights, there was just a cardio area. We weren’t given any towels but then we didn’t ask. Also the sofa bed was pretty rubbish to sleep on. It’s the standard one they seem to have in all French ski apartments with a pull out bed. The kitchen is wicked, nice wooden cabinets, etc. There’s a ski room underneath the complex which is great, you can enter it from a side door so you don’t have to trudge through the whole place with all your stuff. They give you a key and everyone gets their own locker, well it’s more like a broom cupboard. It’s meant to be heated but we ended up bringing our boots upstairs because they weren’t drying out properly. These apartments are great, I really can’t think of anything else that wasn’t spot on.
