These apartments are a budget-friendly pick right at the foot of the slopes, so getting out for first lifts is easy-peasy. It's a quick 1-minute walk to the local shops and restaurants, and the Tiger bar's just opposite too. After a day on the hill, you can head to the heated outdoor pool for a few lazy lengths, or chill out in the sauna.

You'll stay self-catered here, and every apartment's got kitchenette facilities. And if you don't fancy cooking yourself, Alpe d'Huez has around 60 restaurants to choose from, or you can upgrade to bed & breakfast or half board which includes breakfast and a 3-course set menu in the evenings.

With a transfer time of around 2 hours, Alpe d'Huez is very accessible from Grenoble or Chambery airport. Established in 1936, it was the first resort in France to be installed with a fully operational ski lift. The resort lies in the Grandes Rousses Massif domain.
