For a no-frills, self-catering stay in a handy spot for skiing, the Sentiers du Tueda Apartments are just the thing. You can take your pick from a studio or 1-bedroom apartment for up to six people, and whip up simple meals in your kitchenette.

Then when it’s time to hit the hill, it’s just a couple of minutes’ walk to the nearest lifts and you can ski back to the door when you’re done. The complex around the apartments also has plenty of bars, restaurants and shops too.

Meribel's location is tricky to beat, slap bang in the centre of the mammoth Three Valleys ski area.
